Hi! I’m Alex Kizuk (or Kazuk). I’m a retired professor of literature and creativity. My pen name is Kazuk, which was my Ukrainian grandfather’s name. I’ve always had a complicated relationship with my names.
I married my wife of 43 years, the daughter of a strict Muslim family recently arrived from Tanzania, at that time. I completed my Doctorate at McMaster University and the University of Toronto in 1985 and embarked on a period of gypsy scholarship at several universities in Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec.
Eventually. I took a position teaching literature at a small undergraduate university in Lethbridge, Alberta. My daughter and my son were born at this time. I have been reading and teaching creativity and literature here for over 30 years. The adventure continues today.
“Let others pride themselves about how many pages they have written; I’d rather boast about the ones I’ve read.” ― Jorge Luis Borges

My Writings
I have published books and articles on literary topics as well as poetry. My main area of scholarship is Canadian Literature but I have a deep interest as well in creativity and the tradition of the Western Canon.
